Kirt Bynoe – Harwich, Clacton & Frinton

Posted in All Tutors, Essex, Suffolk

Computers and everything IT are pretty much an integral part of my life and I’d like to continue to work with IT, and share the experience and expertise I’ve built up over the years with others. Unfortunately many within the industry want to keep IT a “black art”; this seems strange as computers are now an everyday part of nearly everyone’s life as is driving a car or using the public library and most us can do those things easily. I want to work with others who are keen to find out about technology and help them put it to every day use in their lives.

Where I cover: South of Ipswich to Harwich, Clacton & Frinton. Postcodes: CO7, CO11, CO12, CO13, CO14, CO15, CO16, IP9.

Simon Harris – Goole

Posted in All Tutors, East Yorkshire

SimonHarris_photo_for_webSince the late 1980s, I have used computers as part of my work in Transport and Logistics, training staff and customers to adopt the increasingly complicated paperless systems which have now taken over in modern offices.

In the early days of the Internet, I quickly discovered how much information was available, and soon stopped visiting the reference section of the local Library!

My ambition is to pass on my enthusiasm for the latest Computer Technology, and encourage as many people as possible, to go online.

I can teach you how to get the most out of your computer, and give you the confidence to use it for day to day tasks, like e-mails, word processing and online shopping, as well as for fun and entertainment.

Where I cover: Doncaster Urban Area (East of the A1), Goole, Howden, Selby District (South of the River Aire), Scunthorpe Urban Area (West of the A15, North of the M180).

Felicity Holden – Reading

Posted in All Tutors, Berkshire

felicity-holden-colour150I have worked with computers for many years and have a good knowledge of all the standard computer software packages. I do enjoy helping people to use computers and the internet, and believe it to be very important as eventually most services, including Government services, will be available only on the internet via a computer.  There is also the added bonus, with the internet, of using a webcam and Skype to talk to friends and relations at home and abroad and see them at the same time!

Where I cover: All the villages and towns to the south/south west of Reading in Berkshire, from Thatcham in the west to Wokingham and Bracknell in the east. The postal codes include RG2; RG12; RG7; RG27; RG30; RG40; RG41; RG42; RG45; GU15; GU46; GU47

Barrie Smith – Shrewsbury

Posted in All Tutors, Shropshire

BarrieSmith_150I worked for over 30 years as a freelance IT consultant mainly to the leading energy companies.  Much of that work had been encouraging and training users to embrace new technology via training courses and one-to-one support at the desktop. All this experience has given me a wealth of knowledge and teaching skills which I now  to use to great effect in providing computer and internet training to my age group in my home county of Shropshire.

I understand the need for patience when learning new skills especially when the topic can at first seem a daunting prospect.  How to use a computer can be broken down into small chunks which can be practised and perfected in the peace and quiet of home, without worrying about the opinion of other students in the traditional classroom method of teaching.

Where I cover: Mid and South Shropshire and the Mid-Wales border towns including Telford, Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Newport, Bridgenorth, Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Welshpool.

Stephen Baird-Parker – Kidderminster

Posted in All Tutors, Worcestershire

StephenB-PI first started working on computers in 1973, and the first one I worked on was as big as a bus and less powerful than a modern mobile phone. I have watched computers develop throughout this time, whilst working in the Textiles Industry. I decided on a change and for the past 6 years I have been teaching Information and Communications Technology in a High School. I have taught every skill level of child, including A level, but I get the greatest satisfaction from seeing ‘the light go on’ when I have explained something new.

I expect to be able to transfer the patience and skill that I use in the classroom to make newcomers to the world of the internet enjoy every minute and discover how the digital age will help them.

My 25 years in industry have given me mountains of experience in working with people as well as introducing new technology, so I am happy to come along and help you whether at home or at work, and even if you haven’t yet got a computer.

Where I cover: I am available to tutor you if you live in Kidderminster, or the rest of DY10, Alcester and the B49 area, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Droitwich and Pershore as well as any part of B45, B48, B49, B60, B61, B96, B97, B98, WR7, WR9, and WR10.

Availability: I am available full time and so I am happy to come to you Monday to Friday, 8.30 until 5.30. You can probably persuade me to do evenings or even weekends!

Daniel Godwin – Chesham

Posted in All Tutors, Buckinghamshire

Dan GodwinI am a lifelong user of technology and have seen the way that it has changed both my own and others lives for the better.  I have worked with numerous professional and voluntary groups enabling users to work confidently with computers, without fear or worry.  My attitude towards training is that the client is in the driving seat and any tuition should be based around their needs or interests.  Technology is there to assist you – not the other way around.  I believe tuition should be enjoyable and relaxed and can even advise on what software/computer to buy.  In many cases also suggesting a free alternative to the expensive major players!

Where I Cover: Aylesbury, Amersham, Berkhamsted, Chalfont St Giles, Chesham, Great Missenden, Hazlemere, Holmer Green, Princes Risborough, Stoke Mandeville, Wendover, West Wycombe… (All districts within postcodes: HP4-8, HP14-17, HP19-22 & HP27)
