Presentations – from a single slide to an animated show

Desktop Publishing – create your own posters, signs, menus, newsletters, etc.

Basic photo editing and printing from your digital camera

Online communication – find out more about instant messaging, social networking, file sharing (e.g. pictures and videos), free Internet phone calls

About me:

I started my working life as a secretary and, working in both the public and private sectors, progressed to managing admin services. With the advent of personal computers in the late 1980s I found a natural affinity with using them and, as my skills and confidence grew, colleagues sought my support in developing their own skills. By then working in a Further Education college it seemed a natural progression to become a lecturer.

I now work in Adult & Community Education and, as a firm believer in lifelong learning, enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge with learners aged from 18 to 80 (and older!). Becoming a DU tutor is an exciting development for me as I know there are a whole host of potential computer users out there for whom standard college or library courses are not suitable and I’m looking forward helping them get the most out of their computer, laptop or the World Wide Web.
